LIVERPOOL made the right signings in the summer to give them their best ever chance of winning the Premier League title.
That is the verdict of BT Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp brought in four new players in the summer transfer window.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho, and winger Xherdan Shaqiri cost a combined £175million.
Alisson has slotted straight into the Liverpool goal but the other three have had to be slightly more patient, with Fabinho yet to make his Premier League debut.
I think what they’ve done in the summer, the strength they’ve now got in depth, they recruited very well - Rio Ferdinand on Liverpool
Ferdinand believes it was crucial Klopp added depth to his squad and says he has done just that.
Liverpool won their first six games of the season ahead of tonight’s visit to Chelsea and Ferdinand can see them winning their first ever Premier League title this term.
“Yeah I definitely think it is (their best chance to win the title),” he said.
“I think what they’ve done in the summer, the strength they’ve now got in depth, they recruited very well.
“They’ve got players that are adding to what they’ve already got.
“They achieved a great deal for them last year, getting to the final of the Champions League and are always looking a threat.
“The front three that they’ve got are formidable as we know.
“Great pace, they really set the tone from a defensive point of view, but also when they’re attacking.
“Behind that, they’ve got great depth there, Shaqiri came in before, (Daniel) Sturridge scoring goals when he comes in, having an effect.
“Keita, big-money signing, Fabinho, big-money signing, they’re on the bench.
“I think that’s a great indication of where this Liverpool team are at.
“This is going to be a very interesting game to see where these two teams are at today.”
